Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides: This is hands down, my favorite protein powder. It’s completely unflavored (and like, actually there is no flavor, unlike some other unflavored protein powders I have tried), so you can mix it into anything! I love to mix it into my sleepytime tea in the evening – it’s high in the amino acid glycine, which is really helpful for promoting restful sleep (something I could always use more of…). Of course you also get the benefits of a high quality collagen protein – helps joint pain, hair growth, and nail growth. I can personally attest to the nail and hair growth. This stuff makes my nails grow crazy long and strong after only a few weeks of taking it daily. After about 2 months of taking it regularly I start to notice new hair growth. I only use about 1/2-1 scoop per day (which is all you need to get the benefits), so one tub lasts me about 2-3 months. I’ve also used it in other foods like mixed into soups for extra protein or in baked goods like these awesome Paleo Protein Muffins.
Natural Calm Magnesium: This is a magnesium citrate powder. I use it at night before going to bed. I like the plain, unflavored one but they do also have a raspberry lemonade flavor. I just mix 1-2 tsp into a glass of cold water. It has a slight lemon-like taste, and fizzes just slightly. This helps me to have a great night’s sleep, and when taken regularly, it also helps to keep bowel movements easy and regular. If you’ve never used a mag citrate before, I would suggest starting with 1/2 a tsp and working up to the full dose (2 tsp) as needed. If you end up with stools that are too loose, that’s when you want to back down on your dose.
Nutrex Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica Powder: This is a great quality spirulina powder. I use it all the time in my green smoothies for a huge boost of nutrition. Spirulina is a super nutrient dense food. In just 1 tsp you get 2g of protein, over 11,000 IU vitamin A, 75 mcg vitamin K (almost 100% of your DV), 7mg of iron, and a whole lot of other goodies like chlorophyll, Zeaxanthin, and GLA. I know some people just mix a tsp into water and drink it like that, but for me the taste is a bit strong so I prefer it mixed into my green smoothies where I don’t notice the taste.
Instant Pot 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker: So if you’ve met me in person and we’ve talked at all about food and food prep, chances are I’ve told you about the Instant Pot and how much I love it. It’s so many different things. It’s an electric pressure cooker, a rice cooker, a yogurt maker, a slow cooker, a steamer, a stockpot warmer, and it can sauté as well. So go throw out all your other kitchen appliances – ha! No seriously though, you could. I hardly ever use the oven anymore because 90% of my cooking happens in this pot. I mostly use it as a pressure cooker, but it’s nice to know it does all of those other functions as well. To give you an idea of how I use it on a weekly/daily basis, most Sundays I at least make the following: a dozen hard boiled eggs, a batch of quinoa, chicken and vegetable soup OR turkey and cabbage soup, a few pounds of baby gold potatoes, and shredded chicken breasts for salads. All of this takes me just a few hours using my pot, and I love it because it’s so easy. I just set it and forget it. When one thing is done, I move on the next (all the while doing other things like laundry and walking the dog). I wish I had bought this thing years ago. It might seem like a lot to pay for yet another kitchen gadget, but trust me, it’s soooooooo worth it. All you have to do is make this delicious Pot Roast all in under an hour from start to finish, and you’ll be hooked.
More to come so stay tuned!!!
