Adventures in Art

Most people that know me know that I have about a zillion interests – illustrated by the fact that it took me 6 years, 2 degrees, and 2 minors to finally make up my mind and decide upon a career path.  One of my favorite past times, is art.  Something that unfortunately gets pushed aside all too often in order to make way for those “more important” things such as work and school.  Even though I don’t get too much free time (especially now that I’m in this internship program), when I do have several hours to spare I like to sit down and create something from nothing.  I think that’s why I find it so rewarding.  You take a blank piece of paper, and a few hours later end up with something you can hang on your wall (although let’s be honest, certainly not everything I create is “wall-worthy”).  I figured I may as well share this other part of myself with all of you.  So scroll through and enjoy (or cringe in horror, lol) at the various pieces I’ve created over the past few years.

I’ll have to keep adding pictures to this page as I find all the pieces I’ve done.  Here’s the beginning of what I have pictures of already:

I'll have to get a better picture of this one, lol. I painted this version of Starry Night for my boyfriend's birthday.

This was a box full of tea that I repurposed into a cute little giraffe box. No idea what I'll keep in it yet but it's cute.

I LOVE giraffes. I painted this guy and my dad was nice enough to frame him for me. His name is Gustav.

Little Nelson. He stole my heart the first time I saw him. Nelson is currently recovering from spinal surgery. Please keep him in your thoughts/prayers as we have a long, hard recovery ahead of us.

Fun fact about me - I'm a huge Harry Potter fan. Here's an old pastel of Luna Lovegood (whom my dog is actually named after - told you, huge HP nerd.)

Here's a really old sketch I did of Johnny Depp - can't be that for subject material, huh? haha.

  1. Ahh we have so much in common! 🙂 I am an RD (my blog is zenandspice.com) as well and I love painting. This is a great idea to include photos of your paintings on your blog. Maybe I’ll do the same 🙂

P.S. I am totally obsessed with my dog as well– I have a 10 month old schnoodle!

    1. Twinsies!!! Hahahaha. We do have a lot in common – dogs, food, art, and blogging – what more could a girl ask for? Lol. Dogs are seriously the greatest ever. If I could I would have like 12 of them. What do you do right now? Inpatient? Outpatient counseling? Private practice? And where do you hope to go in your career? I am currently trying to figure out a way to go back to school for my Masters. I know I need to, it’s just sooooo expensive.
You should definitely put photos of your paintings on your blog! I have two more that I’ve done that I actually need to add on here. I wish I did more artwork but it’s tough to find the time. I have a hard enough time getting regular blog posts up on the site, haha.
PS let me know if you would ever like to do guest posts for each other’s blogs. I’ve been wanting to do that recently but I just wasn’t really sure how to start, so I figured I would just ask 🙂
      Keep in touch!
