Hey! I hope you all have had a lovely Christmas (or any other winter holiday you may celebrate), and we’re now all gearing up for New Year’s Eve, right? I thought this would be a perfect time to pop in with a quick post reviewing a product I was sent about two months ago – RSVP Skinnies Cocktail Mixers.
Essentially, these are like Crystal Light except you add it to liquor instead of water. It’s a quick and easy way to make a lower calorie cocktail. You guys know I’m all about avoiding added sugar as much as I can, so I when the company contacted me to see if I wanted to try it out I said, why not?
Normally when indulging in a few alcoholic beverages I just keep it very basic – vodka (Tito’s cause it’s my fav) with seltzer and a splash of lime or lemon juice. If I add anything sugary to my drinks I always end up getting sick. This didn’t happen back when I first turned 21. Damn, getting older sucks.
So in a nutshell, here’s what I thought of these…
They’re sweetened with Stevia and erythritol, which are my sweeteners of choice if I am going to have something artificially sweetened.
They taste pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried my first one. I didn’t think it tasted overly sweet like so many flavor enhancers do. The New York Cosmo is my favorite flavor.
Convenient to take on the go. There are six little packets per box, and the packets are very easy to slip in your pocket or your purse. So you can take them to a friend’s house or even take one out to the bar if you want to avoid having to use super sugary juice for your mixer.
Four Flavors: New York Cosmo, London Gimlet, Maui Mai Tai, and Baja Margarita.
Naturally colored with fruit and vegetable juice. I hate it when artificial coloring is used. It’s just so unnecessary. No worries here – it’s au natural.
I don’t love the name. Why do we have to call them Skinnies? I just feel like this implies that whomever is using the product is either interested in losing weight or at least fitting the socially constructed stereotype of the “perfect figure”. Can’t someone just want to use the product because they care about their health and want to limit sugar consumption? Maybe I’m reading too much into it but I dunno, it just irks me a little bit.
Be careful not to drink too much! These definitely mask the taste of the alcohol and that can be tricky when you’re trying to pace yourself.
So all in all, I enjoyed this product and I think it is worth trying if you normally drink sugary mixers and are looking for a healthier option. They can be purchased from the RSVP Skinnies website or also from Amazon, but alas, it looks like they aren’t Prime eligible so you won’t get the free 2 day shipping.
I wish you all a very happy New Year! And remember, please celebrate responsibly 🙂
What do you guys think? Do you enjoy product review posts like this? I get contacted from time to time to try new products, and if I think it’s something worth sharing I like to let you about it, but if you don’t like product review posts please let me know by leaving me a comment. I want to write about things you want to know about.
