(healthy) Vittles and Bits

A few months ago I was contacted by Aurorae Yoga and they asked if I would be interested in trying and reviewing some of their products on my blog. I of course said yes because I do love me some yoga stuff, and they very generously offered to host a giveaway for some of the products they sent me.

You may remember, that back in July, I did a 31 Days of Yoga Challenge – I tried to do yoga everyday for the entire month.  Well, I was not entirely successful with getting yoga in every single day, but I think I did pretty well, and I learned a lot about yoga along the way. See my 31 Days of Yoga Update here to watch some of my fav yoga videos I found on YouTube.

I have been using the yoga gear they sent me for a few months now, and I’m ready to present you with my 100% honest opinion (as always).

Here are the products they sent me to review:

yoga flip flopYoga Mat Flip Flop (I have the purple ones)

yoga backpackYoga Crossbody Backpack (I have the striped green one)

(healthy) Vittles and Bits

and the Ultimate Racerback Tank Top (I have the white one)

Let’s start out with the tank top.  I have to say, that I was really thrown off at first, because in their email I was told it would be the Flowy Tanktop, which I was really looking forward to, but when it arrived on my doorstep it was super tight and I thought that it just didn’t fit me right. Then when I looked at their other products online, I saw that they must have sent me the wrong one – they sent me the Ultimate Racerback Tank instead.  While I would have preferred the flowy tank top, I figured I would review this tank top anyways.

As you can see from the above picture taken from their website (with the company’s permission), it’s very form fitting.  Which I suppose is great if you’re looking for a top that doesn’t budge an inch when you’re doing downward dog.  So I can see how it would be useful during a yoga class.  However, personally, this was not my favorite simply because I am usually not super comfortable in very tight clothing, and the white one that they sent me was a bit see through.  Here’s a simple pic of me wearing it just taken with my iphone:

As you can see, it’s very clingy material and the white is definitely a tad see through.  It’s very comfortable, but probably not something I would wear to a yoga class.  I would wear it around the house though or definitely as an undershirt under a tee shirt if I were going to wear it to a class (or anywhere out of the house pretty much).  I would love to try out their Flowy Tank Top as it looks super soft and really comfy.  Let me know if anyone has the flowy tank and loves it.

Okay, moving on, let’s talk about the backpack.

Aurorae Yoga Products-7

I actually really like this backpack. I don’t usually wear a backpack much at all anymore since I’m not going to school (well, not normal school – online school doesn’t require a backpack), so I don’t even think I have one.  What I really like about this one, is that it’s a crossbody bag, so it’s pretty easy to sling it on and then your hands are totally free – which is suuuuuper convenient when you’re walking your 8 month old black lab puppy.  Speaking of Olive…..

There she is!  I wore this backpack into town one sunny day when we went walking with Ollie all over Lititz, and it was great to be able to put everything in there (wallet, keys, water bottle and water bowl for Olive, purchases made at the awesome tea shop, etc) and have my hands free to focus on keeping Olive from jumping up on everyone who passed because she wanted to give them face kisses. Super ferocious dog right there……..

Let’s take a closer look at some of the bag’s features….

Here’s the back side with the crossbody strap.  It has a nice little hook on the strap there if you want to clip a carabiner or something like that on there, and it also has a little mesh pocket.

Then the outside has a tiny little zipper pocket here….

You unclip the outermost section and you can see there’s a larger section to unzip….

And then there’s a lower level that unzips as well so there’s a few layers of zippered compartments which I’m trying to show you here….

And here you can see the side mesh pocket which is perfect for your yoga mat (or for a really large water bottle)…

And here I am demonstrating the bag for you.  You can see that it’s very easily adjustable in the front there.  (healthy) Vittles and Bits

PS, yes, those are LulaRoe leggings, and yes, they really are that comfy and yes, you need a pair asap. Just FYI.  I actually love the LLR leggings for doing yoga (gentle yoga, not super sweaty yoga) because they’re so soft and so lightweight that you basically feel like you’re not wearing anything.  And since going to a public yoga class naked is generally frowned upon, these leggings are a great alternative 😉

My work is offering free yoga classes starting in September, and I’m super excited to go, and this bag is going with me! It’s going to be great for packing my yoga clothes and mat to take to work so I can just head to yoga straight from there.

This backpack is listed for about $35 on Amazon here.  To me, that seems like a pretty fair price.  Oh, and I almost forgot, here’s another cool thing about this bag…

It has a little headphone space so that you can keep your phone/ipod in the bag and feed the headphones through to the outside.  Nifty, huh?

Okay, let’s move on the flip flops – my fav.

(healthy) Vittles and Bits

Ollie had to check everything out of course and make sure it smelled okay.(healthy) Vittles and Bits

I was most excited about these flip flops, and I was not disappointed.  They come in a variety of colors, and I was happy with this pretty plum pair (partly cause I’m a super obsessive dog mom weirdo and I like that they match Ollie’s collar….).

You can tell from my pics that these flip flops have been well loved.  I’ve been wearing them pretty much daily for the past 2-3 months so they’ve got some wear and tear going on.

(healthy) Vittles and Bits

You can see that they have molded to the shape of my foot, hahahaha.

(healthy) Vittles and Bits

When I first wore these I was amazed at how comfortable they were.  I’m not normally a flip flop girl because the toe separator thing usually bugs me, but not with these. The straps are made out of a vegan leather and are really soft and comfortable.  For the first few weeks that I wore these, I would have given them a 10/10 rating for comfort. They are made out of yoga mat material, which was like walking on a cloud – for real.  After about a month I would say they lost a bit of their cush, and started forming around my feet, so then I would say the comfort rating dropped to a 9/10 because they’re just a bit less comfy than they were originally, but I still love them.

(healthy) Vittles and Bits

All in all, I would highly recommend these flip flops to anyone – yogi or not. They’re super comfy and great for walking around the house or even walking the dog (I wear them for 1-2 mile walks with no discomfort).  And for just 20$ on Amazon, you really can’t go wrong with these.

So, now for the super exciting news – it’s giveaway time!!!!

Aurorae Yoga has very generously offered to host a giveaway for the flip flops and the backpack to one lucky reader!  The giveaway will run until Monday September 12th at 12am, and I’ll contact the winner early next week! Oh, and you must be US based to win – sorry, but the company can only ship to people in the United States.

  1. Nice review. Love your pup! She’s so cute! Years ago, I did a 30 day yoga challenge as well and at the end of it I was the most fit ever. If I still did yoga, I’d check out their products, but sadly, I mostly just walk and lift weights now (hard to find time to go to a studio to do yoga). 🙁 I’m glad to see yoga has been working well for you!

  2. I was very intrigued by your yoga challenge.. When I was very little I was into yoga because my grandmother have me a yoga for kids book! I’ve fallen out of doing it, despite have a yoga teacher as a roomie in college 😳
    Maybe I needed some inspiration!

  3. I have the yoga bag, too! Absolutely love it! I can fit my yoga block, strap, mat, towel, and have a spot for my keys, phone and wallet. And room to spare! Plus with the cross body format, I have hands free to carry the baby into class with me! Love your review of all products. Entering your give away now!

    1. I love the bag too! I was kind of surprised by how much I like it. I use it any time I take Olive hiking or for a long walk in town because it lets me have my hands free. Thanks for entering the giveaway!

  4. Yoga is an integral part of our lifestyle. Morning started with yoga brings lot of joy and helps to keep body fit and healthy. Yoga helps to keep body away from any kind of problem and it has power to heal body physically and mentally.

    1. Oooooo, accupressure bumps sound nice! I don’t know if Aurore Yoga is associated with Auroville, but I don’t think so.
